It’s inconsistent to argue that marijuana should be legal and taxed. If it really is an individual’s own rightful decision to consume what he or she wants, why would they need a license to put a plant in their windowsill or garden? Would you really want the IRS or other Treasury agents inspecting your house and yard for untaxed marijuana plants?

The whole legalization battle uses taxes as a reason is hilarious. See, even if the state did go legal, they are not going to be able to grow better than whats out there.

I want to grow hot peppers for all year round in my basement. I am not worried about heat output or anything like that. First how do i go about building one, and second where can i find free instructions for a 4-5 plant system. I wanted to make one like the one in stealth hydroponics, the bubbler with the water lines going right into the basket. Someone please help!!!

Hello

A Manual Hydroponics System can be just any container that holds water filled with clean 3/4 stones, water, and fertilizer used for growing plants.

This can be set-up for under $50.

You can often obtain suitable containers for free or a small fee that were used for bulk food grade liquids such as cooking oils.

by indoor i mean something similar to hydroponics…indoor lights and fans… the works…

I was thinking watermelon or cantaloupe?

if you want to grow a watermelon or a cantaloupe plant, you’ll need a very large pot, I’d say 16 inches deep at least, and as big wide at the top. you should be able to do it that way, keep it moist and light 12 hours a day. The easiest fruit to grow indoors is strawberries, and they only need a pot 6 inches deep. If you want to go crazy, you could order the small dwarf trees in pots that bear fruit, like lemons, limes, citrus fruits.

If so, how did you make it and where do you put it to make the herbs grow the best? I would like to have cilantro, rosemary, basil, and thyme.

Yes, I’ve had best success with plants that were grown in containers during the summer that I can bring indoors during the winter. I prune (pinch, use) the plant so that it becomes rather small about the time I bring it in for good (eve temps in the high 40s F). I also work with plants that I know will handle the indoor climate (low humidity, higher concentrations of heat, lower direct sun, etc.) and have had luck with rosemary, thyme, sage and tarragon.

while cleaning and watering my windowsill garden?

If he had a shirt on, he might have a heat stroke. So actually it is better for him, so why not??

Ive seen a hydroponics kit that I would like to use to grow chillis…but if I do it indoors do I also need a mini greenhouse?

Other tan a hydro kit you will need a light source such as traditional grow lights witch need a ballast and a lot of electricity to run the light a lot of cooling , a grow chamber . oscillating fan , exhaust fan to exhaust hot and humid air out of the grow chamber . but if you opt to grow with LED’s all you would need is a grow chamber , LED grow light witch takes very little electricity to run approximately 75 % less than traditional grow light systems also they produce VERY low heat . exhaust fan to take old stale air out an replace with cool fresh air an fresh C02 ,
you can find the grow chamber . exhaust fan at any hydro store on the web but for the LED grow light check out (homegrownlights.com) you will also find links their for LED grow tests . but be WARNED they are a lot of LED grow lights out their that are junk especially from china they are cheap and do not grow anything . If you come upon a sight called super LED they are supposed to have a live web cam so you can see how their product grows . however I have been visiting their site for about 2-3 months now and they have not updated their site and for their live web cam it seems to have the same picture over the many times I have visited their web cam. in MY OPINION I would steer clear of this site at least until they have made new updates to their site like I said it is only my OPINION of super LED , hope this has helped

I'm growing a little container herb garden in my bedroom, but it doesn't get enough light during the day. I want to buy a light bulb or a really cheap lamp (as in under $25 if possible) I can use instead of buying the really expensive ones I've seen on the internet. What type of light bulb should I buy? Where can I buy them? How much are they going to cost?

hello Im doing the same as you. Only Im growing full size tomatoes in my basement with no "real sun". I am using compact fluorescent bulbs, they are those swirly energy efficient bulbs. some have different color light spectrums ( day light, cool white, natural) but it doesn't really matter for you. I don't know the circumstances of your herb garden, the size, the plants etc. but more light might be required. To get the most light to the plants line the area with tin foil, and get a reflector so no light is wasted. That you don't have a high power bill get a timer for the lights, set it to 18/6 (18 hours of light and 6 of dark like summer). have a fan close by or shake the plants to strengthen their stems so the don't become spindly and keep the light at max 3 inches away

what you will need to grow
42 watt "CFL" $10
cheap timer $5
socket/reflector $5
tin foil $3
total $23

I grew my own tomatoes from seed last year and they were very succesful. We are moving house and I am getting a lovely big garden. I want to start a very small veg patch and a herb garden. Could anyone please give me guidance on what would be good for me to grow as a beginner, bearing in mind I wish to use the produce in the kitchen (ie no marrows please!) Could you also give me tips regarding where to place the patch (against a wall, in sunniest spot etc) and details about soil – I'm not sure of the soil type but the hydrangeas are pink (I believe this can tell you something) and its in Rastrick in West Yorkshire.

Many thanks for all you help x

Pick the spot that gets the most sun. Build it up like a "raised bed," using landscape blocks, un-treated timbers, new plastic timbers, etc. A soil depth of about a foot is ideal, although you could go deeper.

What you want is an area that you're not going to walk on and compact. Keep the soil loose. Work in some peat moss, sand, composted manure. Any good balance of organic material to help build up the soil.

A sunny spot against a wall is nice, as it will not only reflect some sunlight, but you will get some residual heat from the house, itself. Bear in mind, watch the soil moisture level so it doesn't get too dry. Sunny sides of houses tend to get dryer for the reasons I just mentioned.

Growing things like tomatoes from seed is ok, but it's also easier to use transplants, whether you buy them or start them indoors. I would suggest just one cherry tomatoe plant; that'll give you all the salad tomatoes you can eat.

Your choices for other things depend on what you like.

It's really easy to grow salad greens and some herbs.
Easy herbs are oregano, chives, garlic chives, thyme, basil (many kinds of basil to choose from).

You might consider a trellis for Asian style cucumbers; they're very crisp. Better than regular slicers.

I've purchased the potting mix, the seeds and some felt like starter pots. Do I sew seeds in the pots or start them in a petre dish with water in the bottom? Do they need heat, light, darkness, fertilizer?

You can sow the seeds in the potting mix with a moist feel to it, cover them with a thin layer of soil, and then cover the container with a clear plastic film that can then be placed in a window for a few days, when the sprouts appear, partially shade them and avoid over heating the container. This is when the sprouts may damp off from too hot a container and from too much sunlight.
Fertilizer is not really needed at this point since the soil mix will have most of what's needed, later fertilizer should be added carefully. Good Luck.
