Hello all: I read the answers re: Erica. Question, can it later be transplanted outside?

I have a Heather plant on my kitchen windowsill, which receives bright sun until 3 pm each day. I would like to plant this Erica plant outside in my garden. I live in Zone 5b Ontario, Canada. I am able to plant it in direct sunlight.

Full sun is a requirement, so any trees should be to the north of the intended planting site. Make sure to plant the heather away from any tree roots, and in moist, ACID soil. Plant it deeply with the lower foliage resting on the ground. A peat mulch will help keep weeds down. Below is a list of how best to prune each type of heather.
