Plant Maintenance Questions for Biology Class?

1) When you plant a garden, do you have to plant seeds in a particular direction? Why or why not?

2) You are on vacation and your cat knocks a small plant in a pot on its side on the windowsill. How do I draw a diagram of what the roots and shoots of the plant would look like when you return home from vacation?

1) I do not think it requires a particular direction, because whatever the direction, ultimately the shoot will direct towards the sunlight, and the roots will always look for water, which is going down, in most cases.

2) Depends on how long your vacation is. If there is no stated time period, just roughly draw a shoot crawling up the windowsill, and the root crawls toward the closest water source. Alternately, you can just draw a dead seed, if there are no survivng means around.
